Clean and Simple Challenge #108

I don't  generally do circular cards, they mainly become tags, not because I don't like them but just not clever enough to cut cards with Spellbinders dies (I guess I'll work it out one day).  From this sketch I made a very quick tag (could end up on the front of a card), which is pretty much all scrap paper.  Glad to see some of that rather large scrap box is being used.

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Light Blue, Navy;   SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Year of Flowers:  Lily of the Valley
Ink - SU Night of Navy
Dies - Spellbinders standard large and small circles
Impression Plate - PTI Tin Types
Flowers - Prima

One Layer Wednesday #21

This SU stamp set is one of those forgotten ones - could see all sorts of possibilities for it when I bought it, but somehow has seen more of the back of my stamp shelf than ink.  Perfect opportunity to use it when the theme is nature.  It wasn't the best day for photography on Saturday, we are getting alot of spring rain which isn't normal for us, so a very gloomy day

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - SU Soft Summer
Ink - Memento Pear Tart, Rose Bud, Rich Cocoa
Stickles - Diamond

An Award ! ... For me!

Firstly I must apologise to Katina Killey for taking soooooo long to post this, I can be abit slow on the uptake sometimes and anything that requires data manipulation on a computer is completely beyond me.    After browsing through the other beautiful blogs she chose I realised I needed to pass this on and that there are alot of amazingly creative people out there (I think I spend more time looking at blogs, than creating cards).  I am thrilled to get this and more than happy to spread the word regarding other people's blogs.

Please take a moment to look through the work of these ladies, it it truly stunning and inspiring.

Just Add Ink #36

A very pretty sketch this one, so  had to have a go.  I have been making butterfly and flower magnets for my daughter to give to friends for Christmas presents, very much like these ones by Melissa Bickford.  The idea came from Lisa Johnson when she made these great magnets a couple of months ago.  For the butterflies, I am using felt with vellum on top and they do look great (even if I say so myself).  Anyway, I digress.  I wanted to put them on this card but were far too big so setttled for punched ones.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft, Scarlet Jewel;  SU Pretty in Pink; Vellum
Stamps - PTI Butterfly Dreams
Ink - PTI Scarlet Jewel;  Memento Rick Cocoa
Ribbon - PTI Scarlet Jewel
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

This is my first Papertrey Ink blog hop and thank you to Nichole for making the time more accessible to those of us in different time zones (and days).  The brief for this was inspiring techniques, and I for one, am very grateful that the PTI design team encourages thinking outside the square.  This is one of my favourite PTI sets ( it has featured in a much earlier post but got abit lost) and was delighted that the white ink looked so striking on red

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft; SU Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Grey
Stamps - PTI Autumn Abundance
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Ribbon - craft supply
White Gel Pen

Colour Throwdown #111

A very interesting colour combination - I haven't used SU River Rock much, being an ardent supporter of Kraft (some would say they are completely different and perhaps they are).  Again, I tried not to use white/cream and am very pleased with the result.  I may try a card with black instead of  the pink/blue border.

Today was a relatively relaxing day as there was no running off to ballet/jazz classes early this morning, consequently any kind of routine was completely out the window - should happen more often, I say!!!

What you need

Cardstock - SU River Rock, Pink Passion, Pacific Point
Stamps - Inkadinkado;  PTI Silent Night
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

CAS #107

Somehow the idea in my head did not translate to paper. I wanted to stamp directly onto the cardstock but then that wasn't going to work with the scallopping and I think the red is a bit dark for the shade of green. Anyway, I think this design can improve, perhaps use SU Mellow Moss.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Always Artichoke, Real Red, Very Vanilla
DSP - SU Dashing
Stamps - SU Lovely as a Tree, Punches 3
Ink - SU Real Red; PTI Vintage Cream
White Prismacolour pencil
SU Dazzling Diamonds

Embellish Colour Challenge with Paper Piecing

I haven't really tried paper piecing before and this is possibly the most basic example of it, not terribly challenging at all.  The colours lead me straight to a couple of PTI papers.  I didn't really have an appropriate flower for paper piecing so went with my standby choice of butterflies

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft
Patterned Paper - PTI Turning a New Leaf, Dotti Biscotti
Stamps - PTI Butterfly Dreams
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
Die - PTI Butterfly
Felt - PTI Harvest Gold
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Marker - SU Choc Chip

Tuesday Trigger: Lipsylicious!

Edited to add:  didn't read the submission date properly, no surprise there, so am unable to enter this challenge,  sigh!

It was very difficult not to use white or cream with this colour palette!  I thought SU Creamy Caramel came close to the pale brown lipstick, there had to be a red lurking there and there was a definite purple.  I tried not to overcrowd the design too much as the colours are all very strong.

Hope you like it, definitely got the brain cells working.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Creamy Caramel, Choc Chip
Stamps - PTI Turning a New Leaf, Inside and Out:  Thank You
Ink - Memento Desert Sand, Rhubarb Stalk
Ribbon - SU Elegant Eggplant

Wplus9 Colour Cue Challenge #8

I really love this colour combination, the green and scarlet are such rich, luscious colours and just a hint of yellow made it a joy to work with.  May have to fall back on this combination a little more in the future.  My daughter came in this morning  and said she would like a card like this for her birthday (which is 2 months away) but then said she wanted red roses (I don't have red felt - hint hint PTI), so we will go with Raspberry Fizz.

The roses were incredibly easy to make, following Betsy Veldman's excellent tutorial, so these may crop up again on another card.  I added Stickles to the petals to immitate water droplets but I don't think it shows up to well.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI white, Scarlet Jewel, Simply Chartreuse
Stamps - Wplus9 Magical Moments
Ink - PTI Scarlet Jewel
Felt - PTI Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold
Doily - craft supplies
Die - PTI Ric Rac

One Layer Wednesday #20

"3 plus 1 - 3 images and 1 sentiment"

This isn't a terribly inventive take on this challenge, butterflies would have been my other option but it serves the purpose of having some more Christmas cards to sell.

When I do this again I will layer black cardstock instead of a line (a dicey undertaking for me).  Apologies for the poor lighting in the photo but it was a very grey day on Sunday.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Christmas Friends, Signature Christmas
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black;  Versacolor Magenta;  Versamark
Embossing Powder - Fantasy Gold
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Fine black marker

JAI #35

I made this card quite some time ago when I was asked to make afew for someone at work.  I had done a couple in more subdued colours, but I think pink is also appropriate.  It also has my most used PTI stamp set, Turning a New Leaf.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Pretty in Pink, Choc Chip, Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Turning a New Leaf, Beautiful Blooms;  My Sentiments Exactly (Cathedral Sympathy)
Ink - SU Choc Chip, Pink Pirouette;  Memento Pear Tart
Ribbon - own supplies
Pearls - Kaisercraft

Colour Throwdown #110

I needed a retirement card for a colleague at work, and thought these colours would work very well for that kind of card.  She is very proud of her Scottish ancestry, hence the argyle pattern (don't think this belongs to any clan), and her birthday is in June hence the roses.

I had used these embossed vellum roses on another project and felt they were plain enough for the very busy argyle.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Basic Grey, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry;  Vellum
Stamps - PTI Mega Mixed Messages, A Little Argyle;  SU Fifth Ave Floral
Ink - Versamark;  Memento Tuxedo Black;  SU Rich Razzleberry;  PTI Smoky Shadow

CAS #106

Just a quick post today, school holidays start for my daughter tomorrow and they can't come soon enough, she is quite exhausted.  She will be having a lovely time with both sets of grandparents over the next 2 weeks, she has really missed them as they have all been overseas this term.  I will take a couple of days off each week for the usual appointments, seeing friends and generally catching her breath.

For the card I had this idea which in my head, thought was quite clever.  I am pleased with the result, something doesn't seem quite right but not sure what that is.  Will ponder it and maybe have another go.

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Red;  PTI Kraft
Stamp - PTI Year of Flowers:  Gladiolus
Buttons - PTI Pure Poppy
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
String
Gemstones -  Kaisercraft

Just Add Ink #34

This was an unusual combination of colours (kraft, so saffron, certainly celery, pretty in pink), all soft and subtle.  The DSP doesn't show up clearly, should have sponged the edges I suppose.  I am pleased with the layout and may use this idea again.

As we don't have much of a Spring in Brisbane, I will say that Summer is definitely on the way - a 27C day with rain and thunderstorms around, so need to finish up this post quickly.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Certainly Celery
DSP - Pretty in Pink, So Saffron
Stamps - PTI Just for You
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
Die - PTI Mat Stack 2
Punch - Martha Stewart Butterflies
Ribbon - SU Pretty in Pink taffeta
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

OLW #19

There is something classic and elegant about black and white, I have even used the combination for Christmas card.  So here is my contribution to One Layer Wednesday, christened my Guidelines set which I can see I will enjoy using alot.

Being Sunday I  hope it's a quiet day at home, but things have a way of changing ones plans.  We are having such beautiful spring weather here in Brisbane that it maybe time to get out in the garden later this morning.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Guidelines, Autumn Abundance (sentiment)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black;  SU Rose Red
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Colour Throwdown # 109

These colours are so fresh and lovely - the dilemma was what to do with them.  So on a rainy Friday afternoon I decided to use a couple of things that hadn't seen paper or ink yet (this seems to be a recurring theme for me - just don't tell my husband).

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo;  Bazzill Basics Green Tea, Yellow
Stamps - PTI Beautiful Blooms II;  Take 3:  Summer (sentiment)
Ink - SU Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo;  Versacolor Bamboo;  PTI Fresh Snow
Dies - Spellbinders Standard Circles Large;  PTI Spiral Notebook Page
Ribbon - SU Melon Mambo Polka Dot
Gems - Kaisercraft, Zva Creative

JAI #33

This is really an eleventh hour card.  I try to be organised by Sunday afternoon but this week that just didn't happen.  I really like this sketch, couldn't find the die to go with the background stamp till it was too late but I think it looks OK as is.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate, Pumpkin Pie
Stamps - SU Occasional Greetings;  PTI Background Basics:  Retro
Ink - SU Purely Pomegranate, Pumpkin Pie
Die - Spellbinders Labels 5
Ribbon - Kaisercraft
Gemstones - craft supplies

OLW #18

This is a great stamp set, again not used enough, but I thought I should be able to incorporate a stamp into Blooming Button Bits rather than buttons.  The sentiments PTI use are not only a great font but are said really nicely. (Just caught Day 2 of the PTI September sneek peeks and I think the credit card is in alot of trouble again).

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Blooming Button Bits; Dot Spot
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa, Pear Tart;  Brilliance Rocket Red
Gemstones -  Kaisercraft

Colour Throwdown #108

My intention, with these colours, was to do a card for one of my uncles.  But in between, my PTI order arrived so I had to use the stamp set and felt (a pretty good match for So Saffron I thought).
So begins another busy week - tonight the Junior School bushdance combined with the Book Week character parade (Pippi is looking pretty good even if I say so myself).

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Choc Chip, Whisper White
DSP - SU So Saffron
Stamps - Verve:  Floral Symphony (sentiment);  PTI Background Basics:  Retro
Ink - Brilliance Coffee Bean
Felt - PTI Harvest Gold
Die - PTI Butterfly, Fillable Frames #1
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Embellish Colour Challenge using squares

Loved the colours for this challenge and on black they look really good.  I had to use Old Olive/Kiwi Kiss rather than a green that was alittle brighter but I think it works well.  Today is Fathers Day in Australia and my husband and daughter are off for some quality time together - so I guess that leaves me with a quiet day of stamping, YIPPEE!!!!!

What you need

Cardstock - SU Black, Whisper White;  Bazzill Basics Purple, Leaf
DSP - SU Kiwi Kiss
Stamps - SU Simple Delights;  Wplus9 Magical Moments
Ink - SU Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive
Ribbon - PTI True Black

Wplus9 # 7

This colour selection is so cheerful and summery (for those of us in the southern hemisphere heading into the warmer months).  It gave me the chance to use my PTI scallop die for the first time and use up more of my reasonably extensive Prima rose collection.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy;  SU Whisper White;  ? Canson gold paper
Die - PTI medium scallop
Flowers - Prima
Ribbon, Gemstsones and Pearls - Kaisercraft
Stamp - Stamp-It Swirly Birthday
Ink - PTI Pure Poppy

CAS #105

Nearing the end of the week, which is a lovely thought.  I am having lunch with my best friend tomorrow, whom I never get to see as often as I would like. Her family are at a later stage in their schooling and incredibly busy with after school activities and friends so she plays taxi quite a bit.

On to the sketch - it was SOO tempting to use SU Uppsy Daisy but I resisted it and went for swirls instead (no surprise there).  I need to use my rather large SU paper collection so this was a good opportunity to start on the pinks.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Black
Stamps - PTI Fancy Flourishes, Inside and Out:  Thank You
Ink - SU Pink Passion;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Stencil - Fiskars (Ovals)
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Tuesday Trigger

These colours just called out to me - so cheerful, bright and as it's to first day of spring in Australia, the promise that summer (and it's a long one here) is just around the corner.  The sketch is a previous Just Add Ink challenge I found as I was browsing through the treasure trove of information on their blog.  I think the 2 sit very well together.  Pity about the lack of stamping.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White;  Bazzill Basics Yellow, Hot Pink, Aqua
Stamps - SU Occasional Greetings
Ink - SU Pink Passion
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
