CAS #104

While a group of us were making Christmas cards on Friday (a pleasant pastime in good company), the subject of SU colours came up.  It just goes to show I don't read things properly as I didn't realise that Apricot Appeal (never a favourite colour of mine) was half strength Pumpkin Pie (which I use tons of).  So I had to try a card combining these two, and this sketch was perfect.
Time to get the working week started.  As it nears September school holidays things seem to get so busy, and I am sure my daughter is really looking forward to the break - it's a hard life in Grade 2!

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White, Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie
Die - SU Manhattan Flower Impression Plate
Ribbon - PTI True Black
Stamps - SU Simple Delights
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

Colour Throwdown #107

Abit hamstrung for this challenge - no Pear Pizzazz, so I am guessing this colour green is close; none of the ink colours, so had to go with Versamark;  and only Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon (not a bad thing I guess).  A friend of mine bought the PTI set All Booked Up which I have been dying to try but, you know stamping etiquette, she should really be the first to christen them, however, she hadn't got around to it so I got the honours.  Yippee!!!

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Geen;  SU Whisper White, Rose Red, So Saffron
Stamps - PTI All Booked Up
Ink - Versamark, Memento Rich Cocoa
Dies - PTI Mat Stack 3, Eyelet
Ribbon - SU Pretty in Pink taffeta, Gold Thread
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

JAI #32

"Just Add Material" - Dawn McVey and Maile Belles are the queens (in my book) of inspiring colour combinations.  I am fairly sure if I tried something off-the-wall it would look odd.  So I have borrowed this colour scheme from one or both of them in this fabric theme.  The weaving took much longer than the rest of the card and in the late afternoon light the craft card looks a little washed out.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft
Stamps - Waltzingmouse Vintage Labels 3;  Stamp-It Happy Birthday
Die - Spellbinders Labels 3
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow;  SU Choc Chip
Ribbon - PTI Orange Zest, Raspberry Fizz
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

OLW #17

Thought I'd get this post out before the daily rush started.  Friday is a long day for my daughter.  She learns the violin at school and part of that commitment is that they play in an ensemble group (great for confindence and working within a group) but that starts at 7.30am so we are out bright and early.

Enough gossip - border stamps, love them but don't use them enough, perhaps this challenge will prompt me to do so.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Through the Trees;  Flourishes Fanciful Flourishes
Ink - Memento Bahama Blue, Tuxedo Black

I'm off making Christmas cards today and very much lookin forward to what Amanda has in store

OLW #16

This past week, I have enjoyed being 'inspired' by cards in magazines particularly Papercrafts magazine.  Two of them have been far more embellished than is really my style but have had fun doing them and quite pleased with the results.  This has been to the detriment of the challenges I like to follow, so I finally settle down to doing them late Sunday afternoon (fading light and all).

Telling a story - hmmm.  Most of the stamps I have in that catogory are trees, no surprise there (flourishes don't tell stories sadly).  This is a lovely PTI set not used nearly enough by me, but now the trees have been 'christened', will hopefully see the ink pad more often.  The birds are gold embossed but it was very hard to get them to twinkle in the afternoon light.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Basic Black
Stamps - PTI Through the Trees
Ink - Versamark;  PTI Fresh Show
Embossing powder - Celebrations of Australia (fantasy gold)

CAS # 103

I am taking every opportunity I can to create some Christmas cards to sell.  This colour combination was a previous Wplus9 challenge, before I started participating, and thought it was fresh and bright.  I then had the task of choosing which way round to put the colours so I have created 2 versions, the second is below.  I love the simplicity of both.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red
Stamps - PTI Silent Night
Ink - SU Tempting Turquoise;  PTI Pure Poppy;
Memento Tuxedo Black
Ribbon - Kaisercraft Blue-Green, Red
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

OLW # 15

    "Unexpected Colours"
I love this idea - when it comes to Christmas I try to pick colours other than the traditional red, green etc.  Last year for a work colleague I chose white, black and  SU Sahara Sand.  The black provided framing for the black swirly Christmas tree, it did look good.
Anyway, navy would be one of my top colour choices, so I thought, why not on a Valentines card.  Wish I had embossed the flourished heart but will know that for next time, and not a gemstone in sight.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - Flourishes Fanciful Flourishes;  PTI Damask Designs (sentiment)
Ink - SU Night of Navy;  PTI Fresh Snow

Colour Throwdown #105

Just thought I would sneek this post in on a cold (well for us it is) Brisbane morning before starting the days activities.  Wanted to try something  alittle different with these rich colours.  In my stash of envelopes, I have these small, I guess, acceptance note size ones, which I can't immediately see a use for as we are unable to post them in Australia.  So I thought why not put a card on the front of a card so to speak.  I had to change Ripe Avocado for Always Artichoke, but it's a pretty good substitute I think.

This is the little card that sits inside.  I toyed with the idea of writing the message on here but then what do you put on the inside of the card.

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Velvet;  SU  Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke
Stamps - PTI Turning a New Leaf, Year of Flowers:  Sweet Pea (sentiment)
Ink - SU Elegant Eggplant;  PTI Ripe Avocado
Ribbon - SU Soft Suede
Button - PTI Ripe Avocado
Linen Thread - SU
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Envelope - Own supplies

Colour Throwdown # 104

I am hoping that the colours I have chosen, match the ones for the challenge. I don't have either Tangerine Tango or Daffodil Delight ink so I have substituted PTI Terracotta and Summer Sunrise.  It was also a great way to use up some DSP.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White. Tangerine Tango
DSP - SU Haiku
Stamps - SU Petal Pizzazz;  PTI Recipe Box Label, Inside and Out:  Thank You
Ink - PTI Terracotta, Summer Sunrise;  SU Old Olive
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Stickles - Diamond

FTL #101 and 102

Managed to get both of these challenges done in pretty quick time so thought I could post them together.  The sketch I really liked as it could be adapted to any sort of occasion or recipient.  I think this one's for my husband as his birthday is next month and the days are going by so quickly.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Black
Stamps - PTI Star Prints
Ink - SU Purely Pomegranate;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

This second challenge had me thinking hard for quite some time but I am so pleased with it and would agree with Natasha that I could make lots of these, particularly for teacher presents at the end of the school year (December here).  The colours look so fresh and bright in real life.  Thank you for this great sketch.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Dot Spot, Through the Trees (sentiment)
Ink - SU Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry;  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pear Tart
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Embellish Colour Challenge

He is my favourite punch at the moment, any opportunity and he's on a card (must give the punch back to it's rightful owner before I wear it out). I have been a bit daunted by "A little argyle", in the wrong hands it could look rubbish, but I am happy with the result and plan to use it a little more.

What you need

Cardstock - Art Stamps Textured Card;  Bazzill Basics Brown;  SU Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Through the Trees, A Little Argyle
Ink - PTI Raspberry Fizz;  Memento Rich Cocoa, Pear Tart
Ribbon - SU Old Olive
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Punch - SU XL 2 step bird

JAI #29

I have always loved this SU stamp set but couldn't really see myself  using it as a wedding set, and now that it's on the retired list, I hd to have it (and make myself use it).  So, with a friend's birthday coming up (well, end of the year really but I am trying to get ahead), I thought I would use it as a very glamous dress for a very extrovert lady.  The "absolutely fabulous" is quite apt too.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Rose Red, Very Vanilla
Stamps - SU For the Bride;  PTI Mega Mixed Messages
Ink - SU Rose Red;  Memento Rich Cocoa
Ribbon - SU Always Artichoke
Pearls and Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Stickles - Diamond

Wplus9 Colour Cue Challenge #6

This card doesn't really do the challenge justice.  It was a rush job as we are about to lose internet connection again (for any Australian reading this you probably know who we are having trouble with).  This stamp set is really lovely and useful and stamps beautifully, thank you Dawn for designing something so practical.  Pity about the stamped butterfly - I should have known light colours don't  stamp well on Kraft.  Promise will do better next time.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft:  SU Cameo Coral
Stamps - Wplus9 Woodgrain Silouettes Additions;  PTI Star Prints
Ink - Brilliance Coffee Bean, Pearlescent Coral;  PTI Fresh Snow
Pearls and Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Punch - Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly

CAS #100

This challenge had me stumped for a while.  While a friend was going through my stamps (not just a cursory glance but pulling out and puting in a need-to-borrow pile) I came across my SU scallop set (another one I had to have about this time last year, and yes, not used much).  So for the scallop detail, instead of it being punched I have embossed it.  Not too keen on tying organza too often but any other ribbon looked heavy.

I think my Mum wiil like it - CAS style suits her well. Another job to cross off my list and using up long forgotten supplies.

What you need

Cardstock - Metallic Grey/Black (? Canson)
Stamps - SU All Scallops; PTI Damask Designs
Ink - Versamark
Embossing Powder - Celebrations of Australia (white)
Pearls - Kaisercraft
Organza Ribbon - Kaisercraft

OLW #14

Having missed the previous challenge due to technical issues I wasn't going to miss this one (if I remember I might put my Christmas card in at the end).  This one was a square card with an outline stamp, coloured or not.  I haven't had a chance to use this stamp set much so what a perfect opportunity with one of my favourite flowers.

What you need

Cardstock - My Memories - Metallic White Gold
Stamps - PTI Year of Flowers:  Roses
Ink - PTI - Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado:  Memento Rich Cocoa
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

This was for OLW #13 - Christmas cards.  I love the sparkly little dove.  Might use this one as the mass produced design.

What you need

Cardstock - Artstamps Textured card
Stamp - Inkadinkado
Ink - Versamark
Embossing powder - Fantasy Gold
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Well, my daughter should be home soon from her second birthday party this weekend.  Yesterdays was a sleepover, though I don't think much sleep happened.  Consequently all the girls who  then fronted up for todays sports party, are VERY tired.  Early to bed methinks.
