May 2012 PTI Blog Hop

Wow, this was a toughy!  So many elements to choose from but I didn't want it to be cluttered.  So obviously I chose the flower bowl, I liked the checkerboard but didn't want too much of it and the grey(?), black and white plate.

My flower, which I am pretty pleased with, was made by cutting out 1 petal, rubbing the underside of the diecut to make the card a bit more pliable then reattached to give it 3D shape.  I think Melissa Bickford did this quite a while ago, but not absolutely sure about that.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white, black, simply chartreuse
Patterned paper - Bitty dot basics 2008
Stamps - PTI Think Big Favourites, Beautiful Blooms 2
Ink - Brilliance Starlite black;  SU Lucky Limeade
Die - PTI Beautiful Blooms 1

Cards on Thursday

Great colour combination this one and hope I am not too late to enter.  This week has really been messed around with illness, so probably won't have time for craft next week as work will have to take precedence.

What you need
Cardstock - SU black, white, Daffodil Delight
Patterned paper - Chatterbox Fine Tinsel paper in Kohl
Stamps - HA Large Flower; PTI Inside and Out: Birthday
Ink - SU Daffodil Delight (and marker);  Memento Tuxedo Black
Embossing Folder - SU Stripes
Ribbon - SU black satin

Just a quick one here.  I am not absolutely sure of the pattern on this dress so steered clear of that as inspiration.  I went with a few colours I think I can pick out on the dress.  This CPS sketch is the previous week's challenge but didn't get a chance to participate, so I have used it anyway.

It could be a great way to use up scrap DSP or ribbon

What you need
Cardstock - SU white, Pool Party
Stamps - Uniko Studio Background Builder Lattice;  PTI Inside and Out: Thank You
Ink - SU Regal  Rose, Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Early Espresso
Die - PTI Ribbon Tails

For Your Inspiration #30

My inspiration for this challenge came from a blog post by Dawn Woleslagle of Wplus9 fame.  This one dealt with graduated colour or Ombre.  Love the effect and so easy to achieve even though at first it really looked amateurish.  Copics are so forgiving.

And I just love that die from Memory Box, so delicate.

This card should also fit nicely into the Simon Says Stamp "Clean and Simple" challenge this week.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white, black;  X-press It blending paper
Stamps - PTI Inside and Out: Birthday
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics - YR 12,15,18
Die - Memory Box Prim Poppy

Play Date Cafe #132

As I suspected might happen I have ended up with my daughter's flu, which has lain me low for a few days, oh to have the ability to bounce back quickly like children.  So card making or in fact anything requiring concentration has been non-existent.  I have almost finished the second Hunger Games book which has been about all that I can manage.

So a quick little card.  I have had this one on my desk for a week or so. I was fiddling around with masking and trying to add a second chair which didn't work, but wasn't prepared to bin it.  Then up come the latest Play Date challenge and a perfect chance to use this card.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Stamps - Hero Arts ?
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; SU Daffodil Delight
Eclipse making tape

An unexpected day off

Overnight my daughter came down with the flu, and, as with most families, I suspect, there was negotiation as to who was staying home today.  My husband's day was full of meetings, so it was my turn.  For the record, he will be home tomorrow as she still isn't on top of it, so a little rest won't hurt.  So what is a girl to do but stamp.  Here are the fruits of the day.

I love Karen's ability to put patterned paper together, she makes it look so easy.  But for some it really isn't.

Stamps - The Cat's Meow Vintage Roses;  Verve (sentiment)

Cards from the Weekend

Case Study #90

The delicacy of this card just made me drool.  The roses and pearls are just perfect with the simplicity of the patterned paper and sentiment.  Couldn't see anything I could improve on so decided to flip the design. Not sure fuchsias would have been quite as appealing upside down.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI Rustic White; SU vanilla
Patterned paper - MME Miss Caroline Howdy Doody
Stamps - The Cat's Meow Celebrating You;  PTI Think Big Favourites
Ink - SU Peach Parfait, Early Espresso

Tuesday Trigger and CFC #52

My final Mother's Day card is for my daughter to give my mother.  Don't know how she feels about gold birds but I was really trying to capture the gold spots on the dress.  I have inked the background stamp with gold Smooch which I had to go over once stamped as it was a bit uneven.

What you need
Cardstock - SU vanilla
Stamps - Annabelle Stamps Backgrounds by Design 2;  Verve Because of You
Gold Smooch
Ink - SU Early Espresso
Die - SB Romantic Rectangles
Bird Punch - SU

ColourQ #136 and CPS #264

This is my second post today, scroll down for my title page for the Allison Baden-Clay condolence book

It's the first time I have participated (don't know why) in a Card Positioning Systems challenge and I think this may become a go to sketch, particularly at Christmas time.  Initially I was disappointed with the marker ink pooling on the stamp but when I stamped it, was quite happy with the watery effect.

What you need
Cardstock - BB Olive;  SU white
DSP - SU Haiku
Stamps - PTI Botanical Silhouettes
Ink - SU Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz
Markers - SU Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie
Gems - Kaisercraft

Tomorrow is Mother's Day so have a lovely indulgent day.  My daughter and I are doing the Mother's Day Classic 8km walk.  This raises funds and awareness of breast cancer.  She very proudly wears a tribute bib for my mother, who is a survivor of 12 years now.  Then brunch with friends of ours who also participate, then I am thinking a well deserved afternoon rest.

Remembering Allison

I didn't know Allison Baden-Clay directly but most people in the Kenmore/Brookfield community knew who she was.  So it isn't really a surprise that when she lost her life so tragically and horrifically, that it should have affected us to some degree.

I was asked to create a title page for a condolence book on behalf of the school her 3 daughters attend.  I was delighted to be able to contribute in some way.

The 3 girls attend the same ballet school as my daughter, though not in the same class, but we had exchanged a few insignificant words as you pass in the hallway, while waiting for lessons to finish.

This beautiful journal was provided and I have just covered the lined area with card.  Pretty Peonies comes to the rescue yet again, and the printing was done by computer.

Runway Inspired #11 and Dynamic Duos #1

Love the beautiful dusty pink in this dress, unfortunately my collection has nothing like that so have opted for just a pop of pink. Trust Christian Dior to create something so tasteful and elegant.

Stamps - Verve One Person, Thankful Accents
Ink - SU Early Espresso, Regal Rose;  PTI Fresh Snow
Dies - PTI Mat Stack 2;  Circles

The new kid on the block.  Aaaah! a couple of my favourite colours but would probably never have thought to put them together without an accent colour (in this case I suppose it would be Early Espresso).  Hope this challenge gets lots of support as it is a terrific idea.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Stamps - Verve Because of You; SU Curly Cute
Ink - SU Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Early Espresso
Gems - Kaisercraft

ColourQ #135

Whilst I am in the mood for Mother's Day cards, here is the card that is definitely for my Mum.  Can't get enough of Pool Party so it is the dominant colour in my card, which should suit my mum down to the ground.  Long weekend here in Queensland so I should get some more stamping time tomorrow, YIPPEE.

This card  also qualifies for The Paper Players Challenge for Mother's Day, if not the exact colours.

What you need
Cardstock - BB Aqua, SU white
DSP - SU Domestic Goddess
Stamps - Verve Sunny Days, Because of You
Ink - SU Real Red, Daffodil Delight (and marker), Pool Party, Early Espresso
Gems - Kaisercraft

Sunday Cards

The idea I had for this challenge was a Mother's Day card for my Mum, but it evolved into this pretty number.  Reasonably classic, very CAS but not for my mum next Sunday.

What you need
Cardstock - SU grey, white
Stamps - Verve Great Friend, Because of You
Ink - SU Pretty in Pink, Pool Party
Gems - Kaisercraft

It seems there are birthdays going on everywhere at the moment.  This one is for my brother-in-law, the celebration was today but not sure exactly when the big day is.  It is very hard to see the glittery "50", as my camera is basic and doesn't take the best photos, but it looks very effective in real life.

As it is Simon Says Stamps 3rd birthday as well I will enter it for that challenge as well

What you need
Cardstock - BB black; cardboard
Patterned paper - SU Mocha Morning;  Doodlebug glitter Lily White
Dies - PTI Wonderful Words, lower case letters, numbers
Other - Kindyglitz (black);  Darice black glitter
