Embellish Ric Rac Colour Challenge

I have been enjoying using Lisa Johnson's wonderful "On my Couch" stamp set for so many things including the great magnets she created on her blog.  The ric rac is supposed to look like a rug but my husband says it looks like the lounge room is flooded!!!  What does he know.

What you need

Stamps - PTI On my Couch
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow;  SU Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise;  Memento Rich Cocoa
Die - PTI Ric Rac
Button - PTI Orange Zest
White Gel pen

CAS #99

Didn't think I would get this one posted either - I hope it's not too similar to a card Nichole Heady did for the PTI May release but the white on Kraft really pops out at you.  It will be a birthday card for my aunt in Victoria and I think she will love it.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft
Stamps - PTI - Year of Flowers:  Lily of the Valley
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
White Prismacolour pencil
Ribbon - ? American Crafts
Copics - YG93, 95, 97

Just Add Ink #27

After a frustrating few days without internet connection we seem to have it back - however short-lived that maybe.  I had made cards for a few challenges, some I have missed, which makes me very cross, but that's our lot with the internet in Australia.  As soon as I saw this sketch I knew what I wanted to do.  Yes a repeat of Maile Belles design and one of my favourite PTI paper schemes.

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Mustard:  SU Choc Chip
Patterned Paper - PTI Autumn Abundance
Stamps -  PTI Autumn Abundance
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Moxie Fab World - Let's do Classy and Elegant

This card was for my sister-in-law's birthday earlier in the year.  You can't beat black and white as a classic colour scheme or embossed cardstock.  I think she really liked it because when my daughter goes to stay at their farm it is on display - I guess that's a good sign

What you need

Cardstock - Cristina Re embossed white card;  SU Whisper White, Black
Ink - SU Black
Stamps - Hero Arts Antique Flower Background, Large Chanelier
Die - Spellbinders Labels One
Black Satin Ribbon
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Inkspiration #32

I have been itching to use Wplus9 Mehndi Medallions since they arrived earlier in the week.  So here is my first attempt.  I love the lacy border stamp and look forward to using it alot more.  It's abit hard to see the So Saffron DSP but the pattern is very similar to the stamps so had to use it.  I really need to get over the whole layering and framing thing - branch out abit with my layout.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Choc Chip, Regal Rose, Very Vanilla
DSP - SU So Saffron
Stamps - Wplus9 Mehndi Medallions
Ink - PTI Vintage Cream;  SU Regal Rose, Choc Chip
Brad - K & Company
Glitter Candy Dots - Pebbles

OLW - Watercolour

The challenge this week was to colour an image.  Had no idea what to do, as I have largely replaced this technique with Copics.  Just goes to show you should always stay in practice.  I settled on balloons because they are easy to colour, and it is a relatively easy kids card to do.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White
Stamps - SU Crazy for Cupcakes;  Stamp-it Swirly Birthday
Ink - Versamark;  PTI Pure Poppy
Embossing powder - Zing!  Black Opaque
Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils
Aqua Painter
Stickles - Diamond

Colour Throwdown #101

A very interesting colour combination.  I had to make do with Old Olive ink as I don't have Kiwi Kiss (probably should have gone for Versamark).  The Baja Breeze threw me a little (didn't think I should use ribbon again), but I love the idea of DSP behind clear buttons.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Black, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss;  PTI Kraft
DSP - SU Urban Garden
Stamps - PTI Round and Round, Polka Dot Basics II
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black;  SU Old Olive
Die - PTI Mat Stack #2
Ribbon - SU Kiwi Kiss/ Vanilla Satin

July Birthdays ...

Possibly not a good idea to post these birthday cards before they are given to the recipients, but oh well, hopefully they won't look at this blog in the next few days (the rest of this week is hopelessly busy with Term 3 starting for Queensland school children and ballet exams, so no time to post).

The first card is for a good stamping friend, she always finds some lovely little idea to create for our periodic stamp nights leading up to Christmas, which is really appreciated (the gift and idea).  Also a great source of inspiration and her fault I discovered SU! But I get my own back as she is cursing me for introducing her to PTI,  she had to find out how great the stamps were sooner or later!

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft, Raspberry Fizz
Stamps - Flourishes "Fanciful Flourishes";  PTI Autumn Abundance
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Die - PTI Tea for Two Collection
Gemstones - Zva Creative, Kaisercraft

This card is for one of my close work friends.  I have always admired Maile Belles cards when she uses this very simple idea, but it is so effective.  Susan used it on her Simplicity blog a month or two ago which reminded me to give it a try.

Hope both these wonderful ladies have a lovely birthday

What you need

Cardstock - Art Stamps textured card (white); SU Whisper White
"Patterned Paper" - PTI sample download of Raspberry Fizz Mix
Stamp - Stamp It
Ink - PTI Raspberry Fizz
Pearls - Kaisercraft

OK, I really need to get cracking on my mother's Christmas cards,  we really loved all the cards that featured crocheted flowers etc, and being a lady of a certain age, dug around in her extensive knitting/crochet pattern cupboard and found an ancient one for snowflakes so that's what she would like to use.  Suffice to say she has already completed the snowflakes needed, and we have decided to use SU Handsome Hunter as the card base, how much harder can it be to design something!!! (sigh)

Embellish Invitation Challenge

These colours were an interesting combination (here),  inspired by the gorgeous travel photos from Traveling Mama. A couple of dilemmas occurred:  couldn't decide whether to go with Kraft or Gold,  got extremely annoyed with the date, time, place ... stamp,  not sure where it ended up (oh, yes I do know), and possibly could have been alittle more exotic given the original photo board.

Anyway, had fun with the challenge, need more practice with invitations, though if my daughter has her way on the subject of birthday parties, practice won't be an issue.

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics - Deep Red, White, Lagoon
Stamps - PTI Warm Hospitality;  Laundry Line Celebrate
Ink - SU Purely Pomegranate
Die - Sizzix Branch with Leaves
Flower - Prima
Ribbon - Kraft

Just Add Ink #25

This challenge seemed like a good way to utilise my fairly extensive stash of SU cardstock.  They are lovely strong colours and was pleased to match, pretty closely, the beautiful Prima roses (again, a fairly extensive collection)

What you need

Cardstock - SU Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla, Rose Red
Stamps - Kaisercraft "Sheet Music";  SU Bella's Bloom
Ink - SU Rose Red, Elegant Eggplant
Ribbon - SU Polka Dot Soft Suede
Flowers -  Prima
Punches - Small Oval,  Scalloped Oval

FTL #98

OK, my second challenge card.  This one, amazingly (for me) has no bling on it but it does have beautiful Japanese paper and in Navy (my favourite colour), not that easy to find.  This style of card is really me, a whole lot of layering and framing.

What you need

Cardstock - Art Stamps textured white;
Bazzill Basics Navy;  SU Old Olive
Patterned Paper - Yuzen (Japan)
Stamps - SU Occasional Greetings;  Flourishes Fanciful Flourishes
Ink - SU Old Olive, Night of Navy

Colour Throwdown #100

Thought I would give this challenge a go, possibly more as a way to use up some Baja Breeze ribbon I had to have and in 12 months haven't really touched.  I also wanted to try stamping on coloured paper, I have seen some of my stamping idols using it to great effect.  Not completely convinced of the results in this case, my original ideas didn't translate onto paper (cardstock in this case).

What you need

Cardstock - SU Whisper White, Regal Rose, Real Red, Certainly Celery
Stamps - Flourishes Strawberries;  PTI Trademarks
Ink - SU Real Red, Certainly Celery;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Die - PTI Tea for Two Collection
Ribbon - SU Baja Breeze
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Simplicity OLW#11

This is the one and only remotely amusing stamp I have, just doesn't seem to be my thing on handmade cards (love getting them).  The sentiment is from a beautiful Flourishes set but I went back to my  favourite cupcake image I used last year for my daughter's 7th birthday invitations.  Hopefully I can attach a photo of the invite.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI White
Stamps - Flourishes "Let them eat cake";  SU Crazy for cupcakes
Ink - Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Embossing powder - Zing! Black (glitter finish)
Kindyglitz - Black, Red
Copics - E55, E59, RV02, RV13
Felt pens - Black marker, SU Stampin' Write (Real Red)

This is the pull out invitation, these were her favourite colours (and we know how transient that is!), and I happened to have sheets of this paper that I could get rid of - er, I mean, which I had for this purpose.  Hadn't discovered the delights of Copics so watecoloured the cupcakes (yes, all 20 invitations), and used SU Dazzlin' Diamonds for the cake icing.

Inkspiration Challenge #30

It just goes to show that participating in too many colour challenges (at one time) can cause alot of confusion.  I thought the latest Inkspiration colour combination was red, grey, white and kraft, really excited to try it out and had tons of ideas.  However, when I checked Makeesha Byl's blog, not the case, oh well.  I love this colour scheme as well so no problem there, and I got the chance to use my latest PTI purchases, Tea for 2 stamp set and teapot die.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
Stamps - PTI Background Basics - Petal Power, Tea for Two
Die - PTI Teapot
Ink - SU Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry
Ribbon - SU Kraft
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
White Gel Pen

This is the other card which I really love.  Kraft seems to be my new go to colour, perhaps it's the warmth, especially paired with red.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Grey
Stamps - PTI Autumn Abundance
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Ribbon - craft supply
White Gel Pen

FTL 97

OK - this one is the reverse of the previous post,  past Colour Cue challenge colours (I can never go past navy) with the latest FTL post.

I wanted to do butterflies - it's not like I have a shortage of punches, dies etc on the subject, but settled on beautiful scrunched bookprint flowers by Dawn McVey (incredibly easy to do).  It also helped with my current cardstock purge, the pile doesn't seem to be going down much but I feel very virtuous that I am doing the right thing (I will only end up buying more but I'm in denial about that).

What you need

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics White, Navy, Chiffon
Stamps - PTI Round and Round
Die - Spellbinders Scallop Circles
Buttons - PTI
Bookprint and gold thread - own supplies
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Wplus9 Colour Cue Challenge #5

Having just discovered the fun of colour/sketch challenges, I seem to be partaking in a fair few at the moment (lucky it's school holidays).  I really loved the FTL 93 sketch and had it in my mind to do something with it, then I spied this colour challenge and thought the 2 together would be perfect.  I also never let an opportunity pass that may require me to use "Turning a new leaf".

What you need

Cardstock - SU Old Olive, Whisper White;  Bazzill Basics  Aqua;  PTI Orange Zest
Stamps - PTI Turning and new leaf, Autumn Abundance
Ink - SU Old Olive;  Memento Rich Cocoa
Buttons - PTI Dark Chocolate
SU gold yarn
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

Variation on a Theme

I had been fiddling around with the SU stamp set Autumn Days a good stamping buddy lent me (BIG thanks Manda).  Thinking along the PTI lines of creating your own DSP and how lovely the leaf image is, I came up with this variation to the Clean and Simple FTL 96 challenge, with a couple of extras.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft; SU Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Stamps - SU Autumn Days, PTI Inside and Out:  Thank You
Ink - SU Choc Chip, Elegant Eggplant, Real Red, Old Olive,   Pumpkin Pie
Ribbon - SU Elegant Eggplant
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

One Layer Challenge - Patriotic

I have been meaning to give the challenges over at Simplicity a go, so thought I might throw in a 'patriotic' card from Australia.  We really don't get into the spirit of our national day (26th January) on a very big scale (then again I guess fireworks from the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a pretty big deal).
I bought this SU stamp set 'Bloom Away' when a work colleague wanted to send some cards packs overseas,  I didn't think I would ever use it again.  Just goes to show, never say never ...  Sorry the photo is alittle dark, not the best weather today, very grey and threatening to rain.

What you need:

Cardstock - PTI white
Stamps - SU Bloom Away
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics
