CAS-ual Fridays #46

My tune - "Je t'aime ... Moi non plus"
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg

I was going to use "Happy Birthday" by Scottish band Altered Images,  which appealed strongly to my 80's dominated musical taste, but it probably wouldn't show alot of imagination.  Then I spotted this WMS stamp and thought of the very seductive french 60's number

Unfortunately it is a little hard to see the ink on the card, I was trying to clear emboss it  but still way too pale.  It looks really pretty and delicate in real life.

What you need
Cardstock - Hero Hues (Pool). SU white
Stamps - WMS Florentine Frippery, French Country
Ink -  SU Real Red, Pool Party
Gems - Kaisercraft

One Colour Scheme ....

The hope was to do 2 cards with this colour scheme but I am just too late for The Paper Players

Stamps - WMS Pic-Nic Patterns, Florentine Frippery

Retro 70's colours

I vaguely recall these colours and a similar pattern from my childhood - lots of Mission Brown and bold, geometric designs.  Just shows you, everything gets a run (or 2) in another generation.  Here is my submission.

I added some fine slivers of cardstock but they haven't shown up too well.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white; Su Early Espresso
Stamps - PTI Modern Basics, Signature Greetings
Ink - SU Early Espresso, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie
Glitter Dot - Pebbles

Case Study #83

Yet another divine card from Laura Bassen, I love the image overlay on the patterned paper, definitely think I will be using this idea again.  I have gone with a silver/grey/red colour palette that I have been wanting to do more of - I think it works nicely for either masculine or feminine cards.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Patterned paper - Making Memories Silver Brocade Wedding
Stamps - Gina K Vogue Vases
Ink - SU Basic Grey, Going Grey, Cherry Cobbler
Red Pencil - Faber Castell

For Your Inspiration and Mojo Monday #233

For this submission, I have tried to emulate the Japanese style garden with those beautiful pinky red hues.  I have cut out and layered some of the flowers from the patterned paper, but maybe it is a bit busy.  Cristina Re does some lovely elegant papers of which I have tonnes and don't use it much, really need to remedy that.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white;  SU Cherry Cobbler, Certainly Celery
Patterned paper - Cristina Re
Stamps - WMS Asian Gardens and Additions
Ink - SU Early Espresso, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red
Seam Binding - SU Cherry Cobbler
Pearls and Gems - Kaisercraft

For Brother and Sister ...

With my submission this month, I needed another children's card so this is the perfect graphic to gain inspiration from.  I have used the clear bags, lollipops and spots and stripes.  I think it will be OK for a 3 year old boy.

Runway Inspired #8

Amazing colours in this gorgeous, and no doubt, frightfully expensive dress.  In my card, I have tried to pick up on the lacy black sleeves and the bright bursts of colour on the bodice and skirt.  Lots of masking and I was going to do coloured flowers but it just didn't work.  So my next go to finishing touch - gems - got a run this time.

I am also going to enter it into The Kraft Journal's latest challenge "Anything Goes".

What you need
Cardstock - PTI Kraft
Stamps - PTI Flower Fusion (sentiment), Pretty Peonies, Lace Bouquet
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Gems - Kaisercraft

Simple Elegance and Stampin Royalty #116

Yes, I know more neutral tones but I do love them and can't resist a challenge using them. I have combined it with the latest sketch from Stampin' Royalty.  This made me think of the SU patterned paper in neutrals I have, and it all came together pretty easily.

Thought I would include a close up shot of the rosette as it is hard to see the leaf stamp and pink butterfly on the main photo.

Queenslanders vote in the state elections today (voting is compulsory in Australia) and by all accounts it looks as if the incumbent government will be leaving office with a very reduced parliamentary presence. It is one of those tasks we all complain about and take for granted but there are people in other countries who go to extraordinary lengths to have the right to vote.  At least the polling station is on the way to ballet and as it is at the local school there should be some wonderful homemade cakes available for fund raising.

What you need
Cardstock - SU Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
DSP - Neutrals Pattern Collection
Stamps - ? leaf;  SU Vintage Labels, Artistic Etchings
Ink - SU Early Espresso;  VersaMagic Gingerbread

Waltzingmouse Challenge #89

Well what a difference 24 hours can make.  Yesterday the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane experienced torrential rain and flash flooding, over the space of a couple of hours, and we had been on a severe weather warning for a few of days prior to that.  Today, is bright sunshine and high humidity, we thought we had seen the last of sweat drenched days.

So here is my late WMS entry.  I was hoping to practice a few of the techniques from Tim Holz's online card class with distress inks, but alas, I need a whole lot more practice before anything goes on public display.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white, pale pink; SU Pear Pizzazz
Stamps - WMS Nordic Spring, Compact Sentiments
Ink - SU Pear Pizzazz, Regal Rose, Real Red, Early Espresso
Die - SU Embosslits Beautiful Wings

JayGee's Nook #17

Goodness, I can't believe it is nearly Easter time, though it's hard to tell exactly when it is as Easter eggs have been in the shops since the beginning of the year.  There were so many lovely elements to this graphic it was really hard to choose 1 or 2, but this is what I have settled on.

I loved the blue foil wrapped eggs and the rabbits stamped on newsprint. Unfortunately I had nowhere for a sentiment so ended up with a comment.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white, Kraft
DSP - SU First Edition
Stamps - WMS Spring Baskets
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black;  PTI Chai

Brown and Purple - who knew!

Ooh these colours were a great challenge, still don't have any Marina Mist cardstock so had to go with DSP but like the effect.  Hadn't quite got myself organised to do the first 2 retro sketches (unlike Arielle who seems to be everywhere I look - what's the secret), so very glad to participate in the third.

So, in the absence of a couple of colours, including Perfect Plum in any form other than cardstock, this is my entry.  I have used Rich Razzleberry ribbon and Sweet Plum ink.

What you need
Cardstock - SU Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Patterned Paper - SU Beau Chateau
Stamps -  SU Always Elegant;  WMS Compact Sentiments
Ink - Memento Sweet Plum
Dies - SB classic rectangle, deckled rectangle
Embossing Folder - SU Lattice
Ribbon - SU Rich Razzleberry Taffeta
Gems - Kaisercraft

So, I promise this is the last in a marathon of cards, tomorrow I am participating in the Tim Holz online class, so I will learn a great deal, I am sure.  Have a great week

Case Study #82

I was thinking of going a couple of ways with this,  but sadly I don't have a house die.  So opted for the colour scheme and repetition.  I find the flowers in Verve stamp sets very useful for lots of occasions.

Stamps - Verve Because of You;  PTI Thank You
Ink - SU Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Early Espresso
Die - SB tags
Twine - Jillibean Soup

Happy Mother's Day

With such feminine colours I couldn't resist this challenge.  Possibly not the card I would give my mother but my daughter loves it so probably for one of her grandmothers.

What you need
Cardstock - Cream shimmer; SU very vanilla; PTI Spring Moss
Patterned Paper - Pebbles Ever After (Blushing Princess)
Stamps - Verve  One Person,  Many Blessings
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa

Die - MFT Woodgrain Fence
Gingham Ribbon - Craft supplies
Gems - Kaisercraft

I have a few more cards to share from todays efforts - in between helping my daughter with a couple of creative projects, it has been a perfect day (read rainy and overcast) for cardmaking.

Waltzingmouse March Blog Waltz

It's that time of the year again - St Patrick's Day, so the theme was anything Irish, green or lucky.  I have opted to go green,  and use the latest sketch from Card Patterns.

This is my submission.  I couldn't incorporate all of the elements of the sketch and the Basic Grey paper is quite busy but I do like it.  Looks like another grey day in Brisbane - perfect for card making, especially as my husband will be watching the Grand Prix and my daughter has done her homework (amazing!) so she is free to do whatever takes her fancy.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Patterned paper - Basic Grey Indie Bloom
Stamps - WMS Florentine Frippery, French Country
Ink - SU Lucky Limeade, Old Olive, Early Espresso
Die - PTI Filigree border

Emily's First Birthday

These colours are just perfect for a little girl's birthday, it will be a very different birthday experience for this family as she has 2 older brothers!  I stumbled upon the sketch blog below as I am an admirer of a few of the ladies on the design team, so thought I would have a go.

So this is my card, had a bit of trouble with the larger sized glitter, it was a bit more translucent than I wanted the number to be but anyway I do like the result.

What you need
Cardstock - BB textured white;  SU white;  PTI orange zest, lemon tart
Patterned paper - Doodlebug bubblegum swiss dot
Stamps - TE Garden Party Blooms
Ink - SU Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie
