OLW #46

The challenge this week was to add eggs ...... but when I started this card, I didn't have any stamps with eggs on them!!  How did this happen.  But fortune was smiling on me today (well in 1 respect anyway) when the mailman came today he brought with him my Waltzing Mouse order  which included egg stamps.    However in my enthusiasm to colour I made a complete mess of the shading so only the bin gets to see that one.

So, this is what we have ended up with.  Not eggs but think alittle laterally, they could be.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Stamps - MFT A box of Love;  PTI Mega Mixed Messages
Ink - SU Rose Red;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics - Various

Now for  some gratuitous animal photos.  As I have probably mentioned we have a rescue dog with us at the moment.  We are on trial to see if she is happy here, needless to say my husband and daughter are in canine heaven.  Billie is a 2 year old goldie collie cross who has had a pretty tough life and if we could just fix the weeing on the rug problem and the barking at other dogs problem we would have the perfect pooch.  Mind you she is a dream compared to our 5 month old Ragdoll cat who is prone to a few psychotic moments throughout the day.

With Charlie the Cat on their first day together (and the infamous toilet rug).

CAS #131

This is my second post for today

Just thought I would  quickly sneak this one in this morning as we are off to "Wicked" this afternoon and no hope of crafting time again today - sigh! -

I am unsure what company this paper comes from as I got it in a pack from Emma's Paperie with an order and didn't take much notice of it till this week and thought it was too pretty not to use.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white; pink (unknown)
Patterned Paper - unknown ?? Prima
Stamps - Verve Dream Big
Die - PTI Double ended Banners
Ink - SU Early Espresso

Just thought I would also add the card I made (too late) for CAS #130.  Again papers unknown.

March PTI Blog Hop

WOW, the months are just flying by!  This month's challenge was to use thread imaginatively.  Well, I have come up with 2 cards, not necessarily imaginative but quite happy with the results
Being a cross-stitcher for many years I couldn't resist putting it on a card.  The other bonus to this is it uses up some of my fairly extensive range of embroidery cottons.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps - Taylored Expressions Summer Afternoon, PTI Simple Sentiments
Ink - SU Old Olive, Memento Rich Cocoa
DMC thread - 602, 603, 605, 818
Die - PTI Small Scallop
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

The second card  is based on CAS #132  (the sketch image won't load today)
Only I have flipped it upside down for a Christmassy effect.  At least I have the chance to use up some of this hologram thread (no idea why I bought it).

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white
Patterned Paper - ?? unsure, maybe Prima
Stamps - PTI Snowflake Serenade
Ink - Memento - Rich Cocoa, Bahama Blue, Rose Bud
Thread - Pink Hologram
Ribbon - SU Bashful Blue
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

I can handle rejection!

Nothing in the inbox so my cards didn't make the cut this time, oh well....  My choices were abit limited in what the editors were looking for, I could only really have a go at the sketches as I couldn't get the colours for the colour challenge and Halloween isn't an Australian tradition and who would I give the card to.

So here they are ...

I love this idea of a reject blog hop, you see so much really brilliant work for  crafters that I probably wouldn't come across.  Thanks Amber.

I can't believe it!!!!!

Surprise, surprise I don't have a card for a challenge to share, however, this was a challenge of sorts.  Much to my surprise and delight, I have had 2 of my cards accepted for the mid-year publication of Go-to Sketches by Papercrafts.  There were lots of squeals (very quiet ones) of delight yesterday at 5am when I read the email.

This magazine may not be familiar to Australians and I can't remember where I first picked it up but I have been subscribing for a while now.  It is one of those publications I take forever to get through, and each issue is very  dog-eared, so that must be the sign of a great magazine.

I entered 5 cards (40% success rate, not too bad) so thought I would post the "losers".  This first one uses Kaisercraft's Le Chateau, I really love the colour and patterns of these papers

The second one used Japanese Yuzen papers and didn't come out quite like the idea in my head.  I should have had more contrast in colour between the papers I chose.  And I had a very hard time  trying to line up all those tiny little squares.

I found this alphabet paper at the Kaisercraft outlet store and thought it would be good for children's cards.  Again not quite as successful as I had hoped in terms of the sketch I was using but I will use elements of this design in some other cards.

Also yesterday we got a new cat, a Ragdoll named Charlie.  All very sudden, I put out a few feelers on Friday and things all fell into place late yesterday afternoon.  He is 5 months old so we have passed the small kitten stage but hopefully still playful.  He is still getting used to us and his new surroundings but we hope he will be happy.
