Sticky glitter strips

Untitled-1
I made this card quite some time ago, when Nichole first blogged about this technique and had to try it.  I didn't add a sentiment mostly because there is nowhere to put it and also sometimes you just don't need one.

What you need
Cardstock - textured cream
Stamps - PTI Beautiful Blooms, Turning a new leaf
Ink - Memento Pear Tart;  SU Pink Passion
Glitter - Doodlebug cupcake
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

All CAS tonight!!

Second post for today

CAS #127

Unfortunately I missed the cut off for this challenge, which is a pity because I was really happy with the results of this card.  I have had this stamp for a long time and it hasn't seen ink  - this will change in the future, could be a good male birthday card
What you need
Cardstock - PTI Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate, white
Patterned Paper - Jillibean Soup (Olive Sugar)
Stamps - Hero Arts Decorative Bamboo;  PTI Inside and Out:  Birthday
Ink - SU Old Olive;  Choc Chip
Button - PTI
Twine -  Jillibean Soup
Gemstones -  Kaisercraft

CAS #128

I have been really impressed with SEI papers, which seem to be very hard to get in Australia (maybe I am looking in the wrong place).  Unfortunately, the official site does not ship to Oz which isn't helpful (and they don't answer emails).  So I will go on with what I have.  This is Moonrise, all gold, orange, black and green (seems to be my favourite combination at the moment).
What you need
Cardstock - PTI Orange Zest, Black, White
Patterned Paper - SEI Moonrise
Stamps - PTI Mega Mixed Messages;  Marks Finest Papers Brick Wall
Ink - SU Old Olive;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Die - Spellbinders Labels 14
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

CAS #129

Thought about using this for the PTI Blog Hop but no doubt other people had that idea before me.  Was abit stumped for colours till I came across the Play Date Cafe challenge for this week.  Unfortunately in my zeal to get this card done, I have just realised there isn't an ounce of green on it!

The light wasn't so great this afternoon but the card is white.  I wasn't going to add the pearls, still undecided whether I should have, and, again resorted to my Fiskars oval stencil, which I used for the scallops on my PTI blog hop card (hope that helps Robyn).

What you need
Cardstock -  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Orange Zest, White
Stamps - PTI Text Style II, Inside and Out:  Birthday
Ink - PTI Hawaiian Shores;  Memento Rich Cocoa
Ribbon - SU Pumpkin Pie
Pearls -  Kaisercraft

Scallops in pink and purple

This month's challenge was to use scallops and really had to think how to use them a bit differently. I also wanted to incorporate this week's CR84FN colour palette.
What colour constituted Medium Violet had me stumped so went with Rich Razzleberry which Sue Lelli used.
S
I went to my trusty Fiskars stencil to get the scallopped light pink layer.  There is light pink organza holding the button on which is hard to see in this photo and the happy birthday is a little pale in smoky shadow but am happy with the result.

What you need
Cardstock - SU Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink
Stamps - PTI Embellishments, Inside and Out:  Birthday
Ink - SU Rich Razzleberry;  PTI Smoky Shadow
Ribbon - Cristina Re grey;  Kaisercraft Organza
Button - PIT Scarlet Jewel
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

ColourQ #72

This is the promised second post for tonight.

I am a complete sucker for anything with navy in it so had to try this week's challenge, and pretty happy with the results.
I tried to match the Copic colours as closely as I could, bit of a cheat really as it's possibly not quite in the spirit of the challenge, but even my husband liked it (just can't pick peoples taste sometimes).

What you need
Cardstock - SU Not quite Navy, white;  PTI Kraft
Stamp - PTI Studio Style
Ink - SU Cherry Cobbler;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics - B95, Y26, Y23, R89, YR18
White gel pen
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

3 birds ...... 1 stone (so to speak)

This is my first post for tonight, it would be too confusing to put them together.

This card covers these 3 challenges

I'm not sure about this one, I don't think the vellum  (for the Make it Mondays challenge) shows up that well, and the Kraft is possibly too dominant.  Anyway, no time to do anything else.  I went with Maile Belles choice of colours and have opted to leave the sentiment off  till I need to use the card.
What you need
Cardstock - PTI Kraft, Lavender Moon, white
Stamps - Wplus9 Magical
Vellum - Cristina Re Petite Pois white
Ink - PTI Hawaiian Shores;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Dies - MFT Daisies;  PTI Small Scallop
Copics - RV32,34, V06
Ribbon - PTI Hawaiian Shores Satin

Annabelle's Curtain Call

This is my second post for today

I really wanted to try this colour combination as I wouldn't naturally put 2 dark shades of red together.  The idea for  the circular border I got from a Kirsty Brown post this afternoon and just had to try it.  This probably isn't new to others but I haven't seen it done before.
What you need
Cardstock - PTI Kraft;  SU Very Vanilla, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler
Stamps - Annabelle Stamps Backgrounds by Design 2;  SU Because I Care, Hodgepodge Happiness
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow;  SU Cherry Cobbler, Real Red
Die - Spellbinders small and large circles
Ribbon - SU Real Red Taffeta
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

A touch of Teal with Buttons

Please join us for our Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz
Hope I'm not too late for the Waltzingmouse button challenge!  It has been a pretty hectic  week around here but things will hopefully be a little quieter over the weekend (famous last words!) This colour graphic is so gorgeous but wondered what I would do with teal, then I remembered I had some pretty teal coloured paper buried deep down in my paper collection, so out it came and this is the result.
The layout it loosely based on the latest Card Patterns challenge (102 I think) and the clear buttons have gold paper under them (gold/yellow I hope that's allowed).

What you need

Cardstock - Cristina Re Green Tea;  SU Taken with Teal, white;  Canson gold
Patterned Paper - Cristina Re Florentine Floral Blue
Stamps - WM Vintage Labels 1, Fancy Phrases;  Wplus9 Magical
Ink - SU Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Die - Spellbinders Labels 1
Buttons and DMC cotton - craft supplies
Gemstones - Prima, Kaisercraft

A bit of Inspiration ....

I was looking through a Martha Stewart Living magazine I got from the library (I got abit hooked on this mag when we were in Hawaii - the magazine, you understand, NOT the show), and was struck by this stunning photo
Martha Stewart Living October 2010
I loved the dramatic orange and black but with alittle Kraft and green.  So I just had to try and interpret that image for a card (ooh!! the photo didn't turn out too badly)
It's hard to see but there is glaze on the black thingys which makes it look brighter.  And I am never cutting out that flower again!!!

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Kraft, Orange Zest, White
Stamps - PTI Inside and Out: Birthday;  Verve Merry Wishes;  Wplus9 Ever After
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black;  SU Pumpkin Pie;  PTI Chai Vintage Touch
Copics - YR12, 15, 18;   YG11, 13, 17;  Multiliner 0.5
Sakura Glaze Pen
Ribbon - SU Pear Pizzazz taffeta
Pearls - Kaisercraft

I  thought I might also share with you the cards I made in early January, when I couldn't find any inspiration of my own.  I went to Niki Estes and Debbie Olson using Cosmo Cricket paper, of which I have tons.  These are afew of the cards I seriously cased.

I really enjoyed making them, there is lots of stitching, which I hadn't done before but find very therapeutic (as well as the colouring).

And one final but very pleasant piece of news, the wonderful Katina Killey sent me a little blog award.
So I gratefully accept, thank you Katina, and now I will pass it on to some of my favourite bloggers who inspire me and provide neverending encouragement.  And they, in turn will pass this onto some of their must read blogs.

Please enjoy their beautiful blogs, these are very talented ladies.

PTI's Make it BIG and Make it Mondays #1 Challenges

As I was trying (unsuccessfully) to clean up my desk, I found this rather large snowflake and although Christmas is alittle way away, you can never start too early, and perfect for the make it big challenge
I tried Melissa Phillips technique of chunky glitter adhered with spray adhesive but it still didn't work too well.  May have to make it abit wettter and press on the glitter.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Spring Rain, Pure Poppy, white
Patterned Paper - PTI Men of Life
Stamps - PTI Mat Stack 2 Collection, Tree Trimming Trio (Noel)
Ink - SU Real Red; Memento Rich Cocoa;  PTI Fresh Snow
Snowflake - Melissa Frances
Chunky Glitter - Doodlebug
Ribbon - SU
Pearls - Kaisercraft

Second challenge
Make It Monday logo
I hope to participate in this one regularly so that my reasonably extensive (don't laugh Amanda) PTI stamp collection will get a workout.  This challenge was to use several of the same sentiments or on the same theme to embellish the card.

I wanted to do something other than birthdays etc so hit upon the baby theme.  I did it in the colours which were on my daughter's cot blanket (sigh!). It was deliberately non - gender but by far the colours we both loved.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI white
Stamps - PTI All About You, Mega Mixed Messages, Baby Button Bits, Inside and Out:  Baby
Ink - PTI Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores;  Memento Tuxedo Black, Tangelo, Cantaloupe
Prisma glitter
Copic multi-liner
Ribbon - SU Pumpkin Pie taffeta

I LOVE Roses ....

I think I have just managed to get this card in for Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge #33.  It has been an enormous week for us, but hopefully things will calm by the weekend.  I had a couple of packages arrive today including my lovely WM parcel (I won my order and am delighted - more to spend on the next order).  Darkroom Door were having a warehouse cleanout and were selling packs of assorted stamps, paper, film and wordstrips, you get the idea and I am delighted with what I received.  They also have this beautiful rose paper which I have wanted for a long time so decided to treat myself.  And who can resist these yummy colours from CR84FN14

So, maybe this is the card for my husband

Patterned Paper - Darkroom Door Pink Roses

Yummy JAI #54 colours in a Sweet Stop #94 design

What's not to love about chocolate and pink, reminiscent of cream centred chocolates I think.  Sorry, I digress.  This is the card I came up with ....
It doesn't show up that well but the flowers are covered  with glitter, looks better twinkling on the table next to me.

Ink - SU Early Espresso, Regal Rose, Rose Red

Wavy Flowers

This sketch has so many possibilities, I hope to use it again.  And this photo is just so glorious to look at, it was very hard to know what colours to use in what proportions.  However, Navy will usually win out with me, and I had only just been thinking that it was about time for a blue card.  Hope you like it.
What you need

Cardstock - American Crafts white;  PTI Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening
Stamps - Verve Wishing You, Dream Big
Ink - SU Night of Navy, Real Red

Get Sketchy #73

It was interesting to put the sentiment sideways (none available going top to bottom that I have seen -    maybe that could be a project for the lucky person who gets to design a PTI stamp set).  I ran out of time to have a go at CR84FN #13 (red, turquoise, brown), so thought I would put them to good use here.

What you need

Cardstock - PTI Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, white
Patterned Paper - PTI 2008 Bitty Dot Basics
Stamp - Big and Bold Wishes
Flowers - Websters Pages
Ink - Versacolor Turquoise
