JUGS #97

Edited to Add:  I received an Honourable Mention for this entry!  YAY

This is my second post for the day (there could be a third), please scroll down for my WMS August Blog Waltz entry.

I made this birthday book for my mother, not that long ago, which I felt would qualify for this challenge. These colours are absolutely her, she really isn't a frilly and fussy girl and she is a former Home Economics teacher (sewing, cooking etc), so the decorations on the cover are particularly appropriate.  I need to make a couple more in the next few weeks for my aunts in Victoria AND start to think about end of year teacher presents.  Any ideas? they would be most gratefully received.

Waltzingmouse August Blog Waltz

The August theme is Tea and Coffee

You can't have morning/afternoon tea without cake so that's what I have "brought".  I was inspired by Sue Lelli's beautiful card for CR84FN36.  I couldn't find anywhere to put a sentiment so left it off.   The card needs something else but I can't work out what, so rather than ruin it I have stopped.

Edited to Add:  As I was perusing blogland I came across this challenge (can't remember who to thank for the heads-up).  Couldn't pass up the opportunity to enter, when kraft is one of my favourite colours.

(the blog is on the sidebar under challenges)

What you need
Cardstock - PTI Kraft, white;  SU yellow
Stamps - WMS Nutcracker Sweet,  Eat Cake
Ink - SU Crumb Cake;  Brilliance Coffee Bean, Pearlescent Yellow
Pearls - Kaisercraft.

A quick card

Wanted to have a crack at both of these challenges, mostly for the colours which I had thought might give me another masculine card, but sadly no.  But I do like what you find when looking through long lost stamp sets.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white;  SU Taken with Teal, Yellow
Stamps - SU Compliments to the Chef
Ink - Versamark; Memento Rich Cocoa
Twine - Jillibean Soup
Button - PTI

Waltzingmouse Challenge #60

I have used the photo below from Martha Stewart Living (May 2011) as the inspiration for my card this week.  Navy always appeals to me and thought the design lent itself to Waltzingmouse stamps.

This card is so overly engineered, it took far too long to make, with several prototypes now residing in the bin.  I don't use SU Soft Sky all that often but in this case I think it calms down all the navy a bit.

I am particularly pleased with the cameo, such a beautiful image and the sentiment is one of my favourites.

Today is Show Holiday (traditional Agricultural show) in Brisbane, so nice to have a mid-week break and catch up on a bit of family time.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI white;  SU Soft Sky;  Bazzill Basics Navy
Stamps - WMS Oval Classic Frames, You're Lovely. Cameo to Go, Cameo Maker
Ink - SU Night of Navy, Soft Sky;  PTI Fresh Snow
Markers - SU Night of Navy, Bashful Blue
Ribbon - SU white organza
Pearls and Gems - Kaisercraft
Fiskars oval stencil

Daring Cardmakers - So Kawaii

So, what does this mean:  Kawaii means anything that is lovable, hug-able and basically cute! Think Hello Kitty and food with smiley faces. Most of the colours in kawaii are sugary, fun and bright.

I cannot claim to have thought of this, my aunt sent me a card with the prototype on it and I just had to copy it.  As a hoarder of Japanese washi paper, I jumped at the chance to be able to incorporate it in a card.

I am not really sure who will be the recipient of this card, my daughter may think it a bit passe for 8 to 9 year olds, maybe someone a little younger.  It was alot of fun to make.

What you need
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics pinks and reds;  ? Canson shimmer card;  SU Very Vanilla, black
Patterned paper - Doodlebug Love Blooms
Stamp - SU Curly Cute
Ink - Rose Red
Washi paper
Jewel flowers - Kaisercraft

Today we are off to my In-Laws 50th wedding anniversary celebration.  We are in charge of desserts and knowing that my husband's family have a collective sweet tooth, I have gone with Pavlova (a delicacy (?) from this part of the southern hemisphere), baked cheesecake (a wonderful never-fail recipe from Gordon Ramsey) and Tiramisu (my aunt sent me this recipe in a plea for help).

I don't think I have shared the invitation design on this blog.  I did space it out alittle more when I made them up and it did take a bit of convincing to use black ink (MIL was a florist in a previous life so it has some significance).

The card we are giving them is one from a submission call but as it is quite big, it can only be hand delivered.

ColourQ #97

I had to wait until my latest delivery from SU came before I could tackle this challenge, as we don't officially get 'Pool Party' till September, but I love the colour.  I also felt it was time for a bit of sewing a la Niki Estes, which I haven't done for quite some time and miss it.

I had a bit of trouble matching the Copics I have with Melon Mambo, but it actually looks better in the photo.  There is some stamping on the pool party panel but hard to see.

What you need
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics black;  SU pool party, white
DSP - Tangerine Tango
Stamps - HA Little Stencil Flower, Delicate Blossoms;  Lilli of the Valley Circle Sentiments
Ink - SU Pool Party, Melon Mambo;  Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics - RV63, 66, 55; YG11,13
Buttons - PTI Aqua Mist
SU Dazzling Diamonds

WMS #59 accompanies CR84FN35

I don't think I need to repeat the mantra, Cassie - lavender, not happy together.  But the colours I have used for this challenge are a bit more red than blue, which overcomes my problem.

Interesting sketch - I wondered whether to use patterned paper or stamps, I opted for a combination of both

This is about as vintage and shabby as I get, just can't do it, so I leave it to the professionals.  Wonder who's anniversary is coming up soon, so this card can have a home?  Hmmm

What you need
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Morning Glory, Heidi;  SU Going Grey
Stamps - WMS Big Day Additions, Dainty Doillies2, Gingham and Co
Ink - Memento Lavender;  PTI Fresh Show; SU Elegant Eggplant
Marker - Elegant Eggplant
Die - Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2

Gems - Kaisercraft

JUGS #96

I have had this challenge on my to do list for a while, but not had the time, well the time is now and here is my entry.

Using Waltzingmouse stamps (because they were out) I tried to create a layered flower with the largest chrysanthemum, both the outline and block colour stamp.  Unfortunately the outline was a little too pale on white cardstock, so it lost a couple of layers.

What you need
Cardstock - SU white, old olive, real red
Stamps -  WMS Big Bloom Chrysanthemums, Large Doily (sentiment)
Ink - SU Real Red, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Choc Chip
Dies - PTI Limitless Layers
Pearl Brad - Kaisercraft

A great technique for a beautiful photo

The challenge:  colouring ribbon with Copics.

The inspiration:  I want to go there!!

The card:  not that different from Nichole's but I do like it

I love the idea of being able to customise ribbon like this, unfortunately mine wasn't PTI and didn't appear to work quite as well.  The white edging really helps to lift the image and I love the navy flowers (thanks for the idea Michelle).

What you need
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Navy;  PTI Kraft;  SU white
Stamps - PTI Botanical Silhouettes, Fillable Frames
Ink - SU Night of Navy, Old Olive;  PTI Fresh Snow
Copics - B12, B99
Ribbon and Gems - Kaisercraft
