Tis the season for birthdays ...

After 6 months of almost no cards for school friends, we have a rush in the second half of the year.  I thought these colours would be perfect for a friend whose birthday is next weekend, at the movies.  I can't believe what these kids get to do for parties, it isn't a big cinema so I imagine this group will have it exclusively.  They are seeing "The Sapphires" an Australian movie and dinner will be served during the session! WOW

Anyway, this little friend isn't really a girly girl, so have kept the design pretty simple.  There are grey flowers behind the sentiment but are quite hard to see.

What you need
Cardstock - SU white, black
Patterned paper - ? SU Pumpkin Pie polka dot;  MME Lush 2 turquiose flocked stripe
Stamps - TE Friendship Blooms;  HA Many Birthday Messages
Ink - SU Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie;  Memento Tuxedo Black, London Fog
Gems - Kaisercraft

This is another card I did for a little friend's birthday yesterday.  She turned 5 hence the slightly younger theme.

This set is from Clear and Simple stamps 1 or 2 releases ago, something so different and great for a few little girls in our life.

An unexpected day off

Overnight my daughter came down with the flu, and, as with most families, I suspect, there was negotiation as to who was staying home today.  My husband's day was full of meetings, so it was my turn.  For the record, he will be home tomorrow as she still isn't on top of it, so a little rest won't hurt.  So what is a girl to do but stamp.  Here are the fruits of the day.

I love Karen's ability to put patterned paper together, she makes it look so easy.  But for some it really isn't.

Cards from the Weekend

Case Study #90

The delicacy of this card just made me drool.  The roses and pearls are just perfect with the simplicity of the patterned paper and sentiment.  Couldn't see anything I could improve on so decided to flip the design. Not sure fuchsias would have been quite as appealing upside down.

What you need
Cardstock - PTI Rustic White; SU vanilla
Patterned paper - MME Miss Caroline Howdy Doody
Stamps - The Cat's Meow Celebrating You;  PTI Think Big Favourites
Ink - SU Peach Parfait, Early Espresso

The weekend's activities

Who could resist this beautiful spring wreath, and I thought it would be perfect with this sketch.  Initially I had flowers on the wreath but  it didn't work so opted for butterflies.

I think I will also enter it into the Basic Grey challenge - Spring Flowers.

What you need
Cardstock - SU Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink
Patterned paper - Basic Grey Sweet Threads
Stamps - WMS Asian Gardens
Ink - SU Early Espresso
Punches - MS Butterflies, Medium Branch
Gems and Pearls - Kaisercraft

The next challenge I chose was this great PPA sketch and my neutral patterned papers were still out, so I am hoping that my Dad will love this card in September and not think it's too girly - I don't think he will, he is a pretty artistic guy.

Vellum - PTI
Stamps - Wplus9 Woodgrain Silhouettes
Ink - SU Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel
Punch - SU

This one is so out of my comfort zone but really wanted to have a go at it.  Maybe Dad would like this one or perhaps my daughter could give it to my husband.

Stamps - Wplus9 Woodgrain Silhouettes
Ink - Memento London Fog, Lady Bug

And finally, this one took the longest.  Not sure why as I loved the colour scheme and the sketch from Stampin' Royalty.  Perhaps I was completely out of personal inspiration by then.

Patterned Paper - PTI Dearest Jane
Stamps - Gina K Great Sayings
Ink - SU Pretty in Pink, Creamy Caramel
